U.S. News America's Best Colleges 2009Lipscomb University jumped ahead six spots to a ranking of 19 among master’s degree institutions in the South, according to the U.S. News and World Report’s “2009 America’s Best Colleges” guidebook. In this same report, Lipscomb’s service-learning program, The SALT Program, was named as one of 25 “Programs to Look For” in the nation. The 25 listed universities, including national powerhouses such as Duke, Stanford, Tulane and Brown universities, were nominated by university presidents, academic officers and deans across the nation as stellar examples of service-learning initiatives.

2008 President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll with Distinction
The President's Higher Education Community Service Honor RollLipscomb University was listed the 2008 President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll that was released in January 2009. This is the second year that Lipscomb has been listed among schools that show commitment to service-learning inititatives. The President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll, launched in 2006, recognizes colleges and universities nationwide that support innovative and effective community service and service-learning programs. The Honor Roll's Presidential Award, given each year to only a handful of institutions, is the highest federal recognition a college or university can receive for its commitment to volunteering, service-learning, and civic engagement. The Honor Roll is a program of the Corporation for National and Community Service, and is sponsored by the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation, the USA Freedom Corps, and the U.S. Departments of Education and Housing and Urban Development.

2008 Peterson’s Competitive Colleges
Lipscomb University was named one of the 440 Competitive Colleges by Peterson’s.  In selecting colleges for inclusion in this book, Peterson measured the competitiveness of the admission environment at colleges. This is measured over a meaningful period of time by entering-class statistics, such as GPA, class rank, and test scores. The 440 colleges selected as Competitive Colleges routinely attract and admit an above-average share of the nation’s high-achieving students.

Campus Environment 2008: A National Report Card on Sustainability in Higher Education
Campus Environment 2008Campus Environment 2008 presents the findings of a comprehensive national campus survey conducted by National Wildlife Federation (NWF). This is the second in a series of nationwide surveys designed to track trends and advance knowledge about environmental stewardship, sustainability activities and related curricular offerings in higher education. Lipscomb University was named as one of 65 Colleges and Universities that Lead in Implementing Environmental and Sustainability Studies by Campus Environment 2008. This report lists schools that stand apart in their dedication to bring environmental and sustainability studies to the classroom.
